This project is a tribute to the Ammo 533 case, one of the more impressive cases to be seen at any LAN party. With this mod, I wanted to bring the central ideas behind the Ammo design to a whole new level.
The mod emulates the tough enclosure and mechanical feel of the original, but diverges in the engineering and presentation aspects. For a lasting impression, I have designed the mod, to extend the breadth by pushing out the side panels. When fully extended, the front fans and IO panel at the back become accessible. The right-hand panel embeds the film and driver board from a LCD panel display, connected to a raspberry pi single-board computer. The panel’s exterior design mimics the ominous Ammo square divisions. The left panel is only slightly less exiting. It features a see-through section, exposing a clear view of the motherboard as well as the heatsinks which have been painted to match the cases’s design. Also featured on the left panel is the GPU cooling solution, brought out to the very edge for a breath of fresh air.
The build itself was entirely done from scratch, using advanced materials and manufacturing techniques along-side good old hand finishing, as attention to detail is paramount in any quality case. A fusion of aluminium and plastic provide the sturdiness you’d expect in any LAN-party ready case, while fully synced RGB lighting permeates the engraved exterior and LCD side-panel.
